Nanjing Iveco has launched a total of 11 models of the three major series of Eurocards. Among them, the Ocard N series is sold for only 79,800 yuan, which is even more favorable compared with the price of light trucks equipped with domestically produced III engines. "The Iveco Sofia III engine is an internationally recognized top-ranking State III diesel engine product. It ensures Oka's core competitive advantage. If performance is on the vertical axis and price is on the horizontal axis, I believe that Oka is China. The State III light truck market has set a new coordinate," said Zhou Liang, general manager of Nanjing Iveco. “From the new quality leap forward to Oka, the 'gene reorganization' project being implemented by Nanjing Iveco’s leap has also entered a new stage.â€
At present, light trucks sold in China are basically based on the Japanese Isuzu platform and are derived from Japanese cars. As the first domestic light truck product led by the European Commercial Vehicle Company, the front face of the "V" shaped streamline design of the Ocard has a distinctive European style. According to Nanjing Iveco, Oka introduced Iveco's "lean manufacturing" management model and European synchronized AUDIT quality control system, which fully adopted Iveco's powertrain, including core components such as Sophie III diesel engine. From the aspects of design, manufacture, testing, etc., Oka has reached the "Europe truck standards."
SAIC Commercial Vehicle Extension
At the press conference, Xiao Guopu, Vice President of SAIC Motor and General Manager of the Commercial Vehicle Division once again emphasized the strategic significance of the commercial vehicle business to SAIC. Compared with FAW and Dongfeng, which are the three largest auto groups in the country, SAIC Motor Co., apart from Wuling Micro-Vehicles, has a place in the commercial vehicle market, it is indeed a pity that the largest truck market in the market is regrettable.
At the Beijing Auto Show in April this year, Xiao Guopu once made it clear that with the completion of the South-South cooperation, Nanjing Iveco has become a new starting point for strategic cooperation between SAIC and IVECO. “This year, Nanjing Iveco has launched two new products, the PowerDaily, and continuously promote the cooperation between us and IVECO.†Xiao Guopu also stated that Nanjing Iveco's light commercial vehicle business is an important part of SAIC's commercial vehicle strategy. SAIC will vigorously support Nanjing Iveco in terms of capital, technology, manpower, and channels, especially the leap forward to the continued development of the light truck business.
At the same time, the leap forward to the EU card market also marks an important breakthrough in the strategy of SAIC and IVECO to attack the commercial vehicle segment in China. “Light trucks are the largest market share among commercial vehicle market segments, and Oka will become one of our main products for expanding the domestic commercial vehicle market. In the global market, we will also support Oka through the strong international sales network of our parent company, IVECO. The export made Oka become one of the main forces for IVECO to enter the global market,†said Zhou Liang, general manager of Nanjing Iveco.
