China's cold rolling capacity breaks 140 million tons

At the beginning of July, “My Steel Network”, a well-known steel information agency in China, published a series of investigation reports on the production line of major steel products in China.

Among them, the “My Steel Network” announced the national cold rolled coil capacity production line survey report shows that as of early July 2013, domestic cold rolling production enterprises have 326 cold rolled production lines, with a total design capacity of 140 million tons.

It is worth noting that, since 2011, the expansion rate of cold-rolled production line has slowed down significantly. In 2011 and 2012, the newly-added capacity of domestic cold-rolled coils was 16.17 million tons and 6.05 million tons respectively. 60%, and in the first half of 2013, China's cold rolled coil production capacity increased by only 5, 2.6 million tons.

The survey shows that since 2000, China's cold rolling capacity has experienced a rapid expansion, from the addition of a new production line in 2000 to the addition of 37 new production lines in 2011. After 2011, when the capacity of new production lines reached the peak of 37 and 16.17 million tons, the capacity expansion rate of cold rolling lines began to slow down significantly.

Wang Jianliang, the main reporter of the report, pointed out that in the last few years, the downstream automobile and appliance industries of cold rolling have ushered in rapid development, and the consumption of cold-rolled and galvanized products is increasing day by day. At the same time, with the continuous innovation of products, the downstream industry is cold-rolled. The new product development, production and quality also put forward new requirements.

For this reason, in recent years, while the capacity expansion rate has slowed down, the expansion of cold rolling capacity has been more in response to market demand, and the products have been diversified and innovative. Among them, the construction of high-grade, multi-purpose and large-scale cold-rolled production units is accelerating.

It is worth noting that the area with the largest number of cold-rolled production lines is East China. There are 170 production lines in this area, accounting for 52%; followed by 77 production lines in North China, accounting for 24%; In the region, there are 55 production lines, accounting for 17% of the production; in the northeast, there are 15 production lines, accounting for 5%; in the southwest, there are 6 and in the northwest, there are 3 production lines.
