One final tone: electric cars are the first to break through the bus

The promotion of the use of electric vehicles is of great significance for reducing oil dependence, reducing carbon dioxide and nitrogen oxide emissions, and improving air quality. However, due to the construction of infrastructures such as charging stations and charging piles for electric vehicles, the mileage of electric vehicles is relatively short. These factors have affected the large-scale promotion of electric vehicles.

On November 7, the 25th World Electric Vehicles Conference was opened in Shenzhen. At the “Energy Conservation and New Energy Vehicle Summit” held on the same day, BYD President Wang Chuanfu gave a speech entitled “Electrification of Urban Public Transport—BYD Green Solutions” Program.

The bus becomes the culprit of urban environmental pollution

Wang Chuanfu's speech on the development of electric vehicles in China, put forward a feasible development idea is to give priority to the promotion of popularization of electric vehicles in the public transport field, so that the development of electric vehicles in China from the public transport field to take the lead.

The bus has a single operating route. The taxis are generally operated locally and the mileage is limited, which just makes up for the shortage of electric vehicles. In addition, buses are generally operated during the day and can be charged at night and during the day.

At present, in the 25 cities in China, demonstration projects for new energy vehicles are being implemented. There are few electric vehicles, most of which are hybrid vehicles. Although there are certain fuel-saving effects, they still have to burn oil.

A survey shows that at present, one-fifth of the cities in China are seriously polluted by air, and one-third of 113 major cities do not meet national secondary standards. On the other hand, fuel buses and taxis that lasted a long time and have a long mileage have become the main source of urban air pollution in China.

According to incomplete statistics, there are 500,000 bus buses in the country and 1.2 million taxis. Except for a few using compressed natural gas or liquefied petroleum gas, they are basically gasoline or diesel engines. The fuel consumption and exhaust emissions of a bus is equivalent to 30 private cars. The fuel consumption and exhaust emissions of a taxi are equivalent to 10 private cars. Nearly 1.7 million buses and taxis throughout the country consume about 28 million tons of fuel each year, which is equivalent to the fuel consumption of 28 million private cars, while the number of private cars in the country is only 30 million. In other words, less than 1.7 million buses and taxis, fuel consumption and emissions are almost equivalent to 30 million private cars nationwide.

The way to improve the environment lies in the electrification of public transportation

To improve the urban environment, reduce air pollution and reduce noise, the way out lies in the electrification of urban public transport. As a leader in new energy vehicles at home and abroad, BYD has launched a green solution for urban traffic public transportation. Replace the existing fuel bus gradually with a pure electric bus and replace the existing fuel taxi with a pure electric taxi.

According to calculations, if the country's buses and taxis are all replaced with pure electric vehicles, annual consumption of 28 million tons of refined oil will be reduced, which will effectively alleviate the contradiction in the domestic oil supply shortage. If all public transport systems in the country use pure electric vehicles, the annual carbon dioxide emissions will be reduced by 32.45 million tons, which will have significant energy saving and emission reduction effects.

Since May of this year, Shenzhen has successively put 50 BYD E6 pure electric taxis into trial operation, with a cumulative operation of 1 million kilometers and bicycle mileage of more than 40,000 kilometers. Energy-saving emission reduction effect is obvious. The K9 pure electric bus developed by BYD also went offline at the end of September this year.

At the electric car assembly exhibition site, it can be seen that domestic automobile manufacturers such as China FAW, Ankai, and Yutong have all exhibited self-developed pure electric buses. Some have already gone offline and some have been put into trial operation. Some cities in China have already started trial operation of electric buses on some lines.

The one-time purchase cost of electric buses and electric taxis is higher than that of fuel vehicles, but the operating costs are much lower. A BYD E6 taxi costs only 50,000 yuan per year compared to traditional cars. According to a taxi operating for 6 years, it can save nearly 300,000 yuan in fuel costs. The cost of the BYD E6 electric taxi is around 300,000 yuan. National and local governments subsidize 90,000 yuan per vehicle, which is more than 100,000 yuan more than a fuel-powered car. This expensive piece, two or three years of operating cost savings can make up for the taxi companies and drivers, it is a cost-effective deal.

The city bus electrification holds huge business opportunities

The electrification of urban public transport can not only ease the pressure of oil supply, reduce air pollution and noise, but also contains huge business opportunities that can drive the development of many industries.

A BYD K9 long-distance electric bus is priced at RMB 2 million. The Chinese-licensed electric bus produced by Shandong Haoxing at the electric car assembly will also have a price of RMB 1.3 million. If the country’s 500,000 buses and buses are replaced by electric buses, and auxiliary facilities such as charging stations, the market size can reach up to RMB 1 trillion.

1.2 million taxis, if all were replaced by electric taxis, the market size of vehicles alone would be close to 400 billion yuan.

The service life of a public bus is generally 8 years. Some cities have a service life of 6 years. Shenzhen is a compulsory retirement of 5 years. Once the electric bus market is saturated, there are more than 60,000 electric buses that are renewed each year, and more than 200,000 electric taxis. The market size can reach nearly 200 billion yuan.

In addition, the popularity and development of electric vehicles can be quickly promoted through the electrification of city buses. As the scale has grown, the cost has naturally come down. With the construction of a series of supporting facilities such as charging stations and charging piles, the use environment of electric vehicles will become better and better, and the technology will become more and more mature. The era of electric vehicles will really usher in, and a large number of electric vehicles will enter thousands of ordinary families.
